The Emelie (and More!) with KKC

Variety is the spice of life, and we helped bring a little of that spice to a recent project with our long-term fabulous client Katz Korin Cunningham. An Indianapolis-based law firm, Katz Korin Cunningham delivers the agility and ingenuity of a boutique law firm combined with the legal firepower of a large practice. They strive to provide savvy and detail- oriented representation with a focus on responsive, crystal-clear communication. Katz Korin Cunningham clients range from Fortune 500 businesses to mid-size and closely-held corporations, from hospitals and health care providers to real estate developers and lenders, and everything in between.

Several years ago, Katz Korin Cunningham began a top-to-bottom renovation of the historic Emelie building. The Emelie was built in 1902 by German immigrant Frederick Schmid and named for his wife. After changing hands several times and undergoing a restoration by the previous building owner, Katz Korin Cunningham undertook a massive interior restoration and remodel of the building in 2020. The beautiful three-story building is constructed of red brick and gray limestone, plus a below-grade garden level. It has fine decorative detailing spanning an impressive 35,000 square feet. The Emelie has filled many roles over the years, serving as an apartment building, a library, commercial space, and the former home of both the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art and the Vonnegut Library. With so much history packed inside–now restored to perfection–the Emelie was a pleasure to shoot.

The variety in this project came from the wide range of equipment and skills needed to complete the job, as well as from the nature of the images themselves. Our objective for this project was threefold. First, we wanted to create a set of photos providing comprehensive architectural coverage of both the interior and exterior spaces. Next, we set up headshots for new associates and updated headshots for any of their team members who needed a fresh image. Finally, we captured images for publicity in conjunction with the U.S. News and World Report “Best Lawyers” edition.

As you can imagine, this was a substantial amount of photography which we completed over the course of two busy days. It is such a pleasure to be an all-around resource for our clients who need more than just one type of photography. We loved being able to meet all their marketing and public relations needs!
