We were thrilled and honored to partner with Trucent once again at their Van Wert, Ohio facility. Unlike our first project together, this assignment gave us the opportunity to showcase a division of the company that specializes in renewable chemicals—specifically, oleochemistry. So, what exactly is oleochemistry? We’re glad you asked. 

Oleochemistry is the branch of chemistry dealing with the production, study, and modification of fats and oils from plant and animal sources. It serves as a natural, renewable, and biodegradable alternative to petrochemicals, turning basic triglycerides into essential industrial building blocks like fatty acids and glycerin. At Trucent, their renewable chemicals combine the bio-based raw materials from their agricultural customers, technical separation capability from their industrial experience, and leading-edge chemical research. They manufacture environmentally-friendly, plant-based chemicals. The products are used to formulate a wide range of products, including personal care products, animal feed, surfactants, paints, coolants, and lubricants.

Trucent’s proprietary technology transforms undervalued and unique feedstocks into green chemical intermediaries. This technology was developed within 10 years in the dry mill ethanol and corn oil extraction space. The low capital process and the cost competitive operational platform are adaptable to the emerging and dynamic nature of the vegetable oils and plant-based chemistry markets. Their product line includes, oleates, fractionated fatty acids, fatty amines, alkanolamides, phytochemicals, glycerin. 

This shoot required us to capture the science, transport, and creation of their products while maintaining the confidential nature of the business as well. For three days, we worked alongside their marketing team from corporate headquarters as well as their onsite technicians and researches to accomplish all their goals. 

It was a truly one-of-a-kind project for us, as it was our first opportunity to work within the world of oleochemistry. We always appreciate the chance to take on something new and challenging, and this experience not only expanded our creative portfolio but also gave us the opportunity to learn about an industry we hadn’t explored before. It’s projects like these that continue to inspire us and remind us why we love what we do.
